FIRST Regional Activity of 2009

Here we are gobbling up our chicken rice and carrot cake!

hmmm... actually looks like all the food's gone already..

Anyone has photos of the ice cream? First time in my life I bought 8 tubs of ice cream! And then 2 days later (@ Pastors' Summit in Malacca) I bought another 4 to get the Youth Pastors and leaders to get together. That makes it 12 tubs in one week!

And of course we remembered our dear Cclia in Timor!

ok, i know this post is like 1 month late but it has been crazy since December arrived. Youth camp, then xmas and I had to prepare for Pastors' Summit at work so now I'm just starting to be able to breathe (that is when my sometimes blocked, sometimes leaky nose clears up).

So we had a Christmas party and this year we had dress up! You guys did an AMAZING JOB! It was TOTALLY entertaining and worth it.... my favourite is of course our very own Snow Bird. Doesn't she look like the KFC Chicky or whatever it's called? Here's a video of her first. Cecilia, if you're reading this, you NEED to watch this video.. Wendy, I'm so proud of you ;) The GIRLS defintely wins when it comes to dress up!!!

And I have absolutely NO idea what the boys were trying to do.. only God knows..

Anybody has a nice photo/video of our lovely Christmas tree? Do post it if you have.. You guys are amazing! That was a really nice and ingenious Christmas tree.. with revolving colourful lights and all!

it all started with Ruth with this Best Mama thingy... and i dunno why i remembered bro derek saying something about Chiobu.and only he himself can call sis amy that or somethin like that... dunno la.. so i was telling esther that. and whoomp! the words came out nicely on the clothe... ruth was saying that at the bottom add small words -Derek- but it came up big. haha... pics as followed.i tink its really nicely done up.. like Peagent show like that sial...

The difference? Second one has the glare of camera flash. I wish I could do without it. The top photo looks so much warmer.

Muscleman MingWei makes Pork Chops.
Joel Ng, Asriel, James, Ezabella, Abigail and Marcus tried to take a groupshot with the sparklers. However, by the time I ran to get the camera, all the sparklers but Marcus' had burned out. Check out Marcus' triumphant, happy face, Abigail's sad face, and James "this is mildly amusing" face and Joel Ng's "woey!" face.

When one attends a BARBEQUE, one evaluates it by these 2 categories.

1. The Food, primarily, determines the quality of a barbeque. Most of the time.
Today, much was promised about the barbeque. It was rumored that there would actually be Stingray at a Youth Barbeque. For the first time in history. And for $5 a head too!

Sadly the food today was somewhat cheap, dry, a little burnt, and there wasn't quite enough of it. Category 1 fail.

The hype surrounding the food was huge, but not as huge as the hype about the WATERSLIDE OMGWOW

which brings us to category

2. The Entertainment

This year's BBQ was at Sembawang building, just like last year's was. Only this year's was waaay much more exciting. Last year there were silly games (Fire Hunter Earthquake) and this year there was a FRIGGIN WATERSLIDE OMGWOW.

Here's one of the first ones to slide down the plastic sheet-covered carpark ramp. Imagine that. They put a plastic sheet on a carpark ramp and poured soapy water all over it.
With rubber tyres to hold it down at the sides.

4 frames with my phone camera on BurstMode. If i knew how to .gif it I would but I can't.

Mom wouldn't let me slide, what with my broken collarbone and all, and she told Nigel V to keep me off it. In addition, maternal people like Wendy and Cecilia wouldn't let me slide.

As such, I spent about an hour wistfully watching people fly down the ramp at top speed into the cheap mattresses, wishing I could have a go or two. Or three. Or more.

LemSim had 2 suggestions for me. The first being to just chiong in while they weren't looking, and the second an extension of the first; to "accidentally" fall down while standing in the vincinity. I rejected both, and decided to find an inventive way to have fun without actually sliding.

This was my solution.
Examine this picture carefully. In the bottom right corner you'll see (presumably) a girl sliding happily down, while Lennie Ebenezer Wee(top right corner) lets loose a bucket of water on the poor unsuspecting slider.
It just so happens that there was a convenient bridge right over the carpark ramp, which I picked as my base. A bunch of insane guys soon took notice and joined in.

We gleefully splashed almost every single person who slide-d. Which was fun for not just us splashers, but also the spectators, who quadrupled once we started splashing. Raucous cries of "Wahoo, nice one" when we made a good hit, and "Waaah, wasted" when we missed.

In fact, it was (probably) also fun for those being splashed, seeing as they were prepared to be wet already anyway.
And to round it off, we surprised Natasha (Kate Priyah Vellasamy) with this here heart-shaped tealight formation thingy.

Ha…. I actually stumbled across this blog that the youths actually put up recently. This explains the sudden urge to fill up some spaces.

I know… I know while some are tired of hearing me, well there will still be some that are still willing to listen to me.

Adding on to Esther Chee’s post. I really think she has done a good job and I honestly pray that there will be more good years ahead for her. HAHA. Get more pink Polos man. You deserved it.

Surprisingly, I was appreciated as well. Thanks to everyone in making my day. And yes I don’t like purple. Stop hearing my brother’s lies. But honestly, it will be nothing without you guys. Since my appointment as YC you guys have been great. In fact I wished I could have done more. But God has plans for Esther.

Thanks for everything. There have been times that I flared and make things ugly, or being tactless at passing dumb comments at the wrong times. Thanks for the chance to continue to serve you people still. Without you youths, I don’t think I can adjust back to life so quickly.

With that, for those who still have not signed for BBQ, please pay up to our YC on time. It does not feel good to chase people for $$$. So please DO IT AUTOMATICALLY!

Last but not least, lets finish the journey together and my prayer is that everyone grows to their fullest and lets continue to make it happen in the Youth Ministry.

Hi Guys (which includes girls of course!),

Thanks so much for everything!!! I was a bit bewildered/puzzled by the whole colour scheme thing and was wondering why on earth I didn't hear anything about a colour scheme and was also thinking how ridiculous it was to have a colour scheme for everyone. I think Mingfei especially enjoyed and appreciates it cos now EVERYONE thinks HE LOVES PURPLE. I'm not too sure if cream is my favourite colour though.. Hmmm... I don't think I even know what my favourite colour is.. It's probably black I think..?? Anyway, it was a really sweet thought like everything else was =)

Of coz, the nicest part of everything was the little notes you wrote... I thoroughly enjoyed reading them.. (A note to the "organisers" who wanted to see me cry... if you asked me to read some of those notes on the spot I MIGHT have made use of some of that tissue you prepared with great hope and anticipation..) All the cards are hanging in my room now (the photo Cecilia posted shows it hanging in my room now...), right above my bed and I see it ALL the time. A good reminder that I'm appreciated (or at least pple say they appreciate me) which is especially good (when sometimes their actions seem to say otherwise) when I'm needing to organise stuff, get help and chase people for sign up and $$$ for stuff LIKE THE BBQ COMING UP.. ACTIONS speak louder than words my dears...

What I'll remember the most (Nigel getting on one knee is a close second) would be THE SWEET LITTLE SEC ONES. They probably hate being refered to as such. But really, they made my day when they came and signed up and paid up for the BBQ. That was the most pleasant surprise! Charlene, Joel and Charissa, you are officially my little darlings cos you came and paid up and signed up. Indeed, theirs is the kingdom of heaven, for making life nice and smooth for their YC. I really don't like nagging so it was REALLY NICE that they signed up the VERY FIRST TIME I announced. My prayer for the rest of that week was that they will remain so sweet and that everyone else will be like "the little children". Seriously, you guys have no idea how much it means when I don't have to BEG people to sign up, pay or come for activities... REALLY...

K, this is getting lengthy so I shall end here.. THANK YOU EVERYBODY! And especially those who put it all together, Cecilia, Seraphine, Joanna, my sis, Trina, Francel and anybody else.. Thank you! It was really nice and sweet of you and I'm encouraged =)

was a special day, for all of us... it's (everyone scream:) Appreciate YC Day!!

being the lovely, appreciative & giving lot that we are, we decided to love, appreciate & give to our dear YC - Esther Chee.

Schemes were planned and executed, manpower was exercised weeks before d day. We had it all worked out. During the morning service, most of us were in our beige/purple sunday best. (even our dear YM who had to lead worship that day, wore his nicely ironed beige shirt). Why these colours, you asked? That's becoz; ahem..hem..

PURPLE's Mingfei's fav colour -> so says his bro (how could we forget our talented, funny & nice ex-yc) & indeed, it was really quite a sight to see most of us in the same colour... hehe..

Everyone kept his/her cool, we pretended that it was like any other sunday. And after the morning prayer, dear Esther went to give us our weekly dosage of announcement. Straight after that, bro Derek took over. In her least expectancy, we presented to Esther our handmade gifts:

It was so hard to resist that even the adults came to steal from us. But of coz, being the mature & generous lot that we are, we shared with them :)

If you know about this issue, you would probably know.
I got the post of a Staff Nurse in Parkway Shenton!! =)
God gave me very CLEAR confirmation!! 2 dreams within that 2 weeks of waiting. and it ALL came through! call me MISSY.JO on 1st April onwards. =) haha...
Firstly, i told God that if by Good friday, they do not tell me anything, then i will go on in the supervisor role or other stuffs. And maybe it isn't my calling to be a Nurse after all despite all the many little confirmation from God all these years. but I was also debating with God that if i get this job, the skills i will learn and practise in the coming future will be very useful and practical in the Missions Field...

and guess wat? the many fridays before Good Friday, my amazing net(KEEP GOING for net!its where you find strength together from God) kept me in prayer, and Good Friday's eve, the staff from Parkway sms me to congrats me in joining their family. and i was asked to expect a call from HR on the following monday. While i was working for BroAnthony/Sis LeeChuin, i was anticipating and got no call,but sms from the staff again checking have i received any calls.same for tues and wednesday, i was already sianz half way and tinkin of slappin myself back to reality.

but yesterday, just as i was about to end work at 4pm plus, HR CALLED!!!! =) she asked am i still interested in the post as a staff nurse that they are offering me? i answered DEFINITELY!!
deep inside me, i was screaming with joy/estacy and thanking GOD!!! i kept on smiling and laughing to myself after that call as i shared my joy with Sis Leechuin.
God never shortchange us. During interview, i requested for my pay to be 1.6-1.8k, that's the expected pay for a fresh grad. and i was thinking 1.6 will be gd enuff. 1.8k is jus abit wishful thinking. but guess wat?! God grants the desire of our hearts. as we seek His kingdom first, all we need or the little desires in our heart will be granted. even those we do not expect! =)

i remember at the Prayer Meeting 4 days back, Sis Yeen Fun prayed for us, a miracle or smth, that God will be so real to us this coming week or something. man!! God is FAITHFUL and He stands on His Word!!! =) thank you Father. thank you God... thank you thank you Jesus!! i love you!!

on the ending note.... i am ONE STEP CLOSER to my missions goal and Another step closer to earn that money to go Missions!! hahahahaha.... thank you Father in Heaven!!

Prayer Drive tonite... are you guys excited? =) dun settle for second best, dun just be a spectator. i have not went to a prayer drive before too. but since its says PRAYER drive, then we should pray. our generation is dying and falling for the wrong things, let's make a stand for their behalf... get hungry and really pray like you never pray before.... it's OUR GENERATION!

let the population of hell decrease and population in heaven increase.. we serve a BIG GOD! Almighty God, Dun worry abt space constraint! =) our Father will make a way! =) dun u guys wish to see one another in heaven enjoying and laughing with our God? =) it's such a privilege to be His Little Ones....

dun let the natural things stop you to pursue God's destiny for us... it's not worth it lor.. really its not.. so let's keep on running this race that is set for us... =) jiayou jiayou!! =) gotta go and prepare liao.. see you all at Edge!! =) woohoo!! =)
